The A Game Chapter 13

Well I was in a good mood so I decided to update this fic again and for those of you that are confused Zac and Josh are not brothers in this story. Sorry I really should have made that clear at the beginning. Also on a good note I saw the new 'Now' Video from Paramore and it's up on youtube. I can't say that I was happy with Hayley's look but Taylor and Jeremy looked amazing as usual. Anyways if you haven't seen it yet you should check it out (; Remember to comment, buzz and enjoy! :D
Hayley's Pov: "What?" I whispered trying not to believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. "Who are you?" He repeated still staring at me softly.
"That's Hayley." Mrs. Farro spoke up staring down at Josh.
He furrowed his eyebrows like he didn’t believe her. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Josh doesn’t remember me? What the hell? How badly did he hit his head? He reached up and rubbed his eyes before squinting back at me. Immediately a smile laced his lips.
“Hayley!? You’re here?” He asked his voice a hoarse whisper. I smiled. Josh does remember me! But why did it take so long for him to remember me?
“Of course I’m here” I laughed grabbing his hand as I sat down on the empty chair beside him. He beamed at me and enlaced our fingers.
“How did you not recognize me when I walked in? I thought that you had memory loss and had forgotten me or something awful.” I admitted, staring at our hands. He slid his fingers underneath my chin and lifted my gaze to his eye level.
“I could never forget you.” He whispered softly and kissed my forehead.
“Ok that would be my cue” Mrs. Farro awkwardly cleared her throat before exiting the room with the rest of the family following behind. I blushed remembering that his family was just in the room watching us. Awkward.
“I couldn’t really see your face when you came in, you were just a blur. It had happened previously when my Mother first came to see me; I didn’t know who she was either.” He explained, tightening his grip on my hand.
“The Doctor’s say that it’s just my brain healing itself. It’s not permanent.” He assured.
I smiled at him and kissed his hand. “I’m just glad you’re on the mend.”
He squinted at the ground with a frown on his face. “I only remember small amounts of what happened last night. More memories are coming back to me slowly, in pieces.”
“Well what do you remember?” I asked straighting myself up.
He shook his head slowly. “Only driving down a gravel road then there’s just nothing. They say that my memories of that night will keep coming back. It’s just a matter of time.”
I let out a breath and lay in his arms. It’s all just a matter of time now.
Dakotah’s Pov: Cassadee and I watched from outside the door as Hayley lay in Josh’s arms. We thought that barging in wouldn’t be the best idea it could ruin their moment together.
“Do you think he knows who A is?” Cass asked her eyes not leaving the sleeping couple.
I shrugged “I don’t know”
“Do you think he remembers anything?” She asked again.
“I don’t know”
“Who do you think A is?”
“Cass I don’t know, please stop asking me questions.” I sighed turning away from the door.
“Fine then” She muttered finally turning her attention away from the window. There was a short silence before Cass broke it.
“I kind of feel guilty Dak.” She confessed, brushing her fringe out of her face before shoving her hands into her jean pockets.
I gave her a weird look. “Why would you?”
“Because if I hadn’t of shown up at your house that night then you wouldn’t of been late and you could of got there on time and Josh probably wouldn’t have been stabbed and we could know who A is right now--“ Cass blabbed on.
“Cass stop” I interrupted her long speech.
“None of this was your fault. You were confused about your feelings and you needed some advice. You could have picked a much better time to tell me but you didn’t know what was going on. If anything I feel guilty. I should have stopped the plan but it was the only lead we had on A. I seriously thought that it would be an opening.”
Cass nodded and hugged me. “Don’t feel guilty. It was an accident, that’s all.” Her voice was muffled against my shoulder.
I didn’t respond. I couldn’t help but feel guilty but mostly I was scared. I was scared because I was in love with someone who could possibly be the one who stabbed Josh. He was there that night but for what reason? I was scared of him. But I know I have to talk to him, although the cops already have. They took him for questioning last night. I have to get answers on why he was there at that exact time.
“Cass I’m going to go. I’ll visit Josh later so that he and Hayley can spend some time together.” I spoke quickly and strode toward the exit.
“Where are you going?” She called after me.
I pushed open the exit door and turned to face Cass who was a few meters away. “School” I answered before leaving.
I knew Zac would be at school he’s so paranoid about getting a scholarship. I arrived at the school gates an hour late. I explained at the front office that I was in hospital overnight for a friend. They excused me just as the bell rang. Crowds of people piled out in every direction. I pushed my way through the crowd until I spotted Zac in the distance, heading to the gym. I hurried after him pushing past random people until he was a small distance in front of me. I was about to call his name until someone else did. I hid behind a corner and watched as Alex Gaskarth walked over and shook Zac’s hand. I strained to hear their conversation.
“Did you get the hoodie?” Alex’s faint voice echoed. Zac nodded and scratched his head.
“I got the mask too.” I froze listening to their conversation. Hoodie? Mask?
“And did you make up a statement at the police station?” Alex asked again with a serious look on his face.
“Yes. I told them I was with you most of the night until I went for my midnight run and found Josh.”
“Good. They will have to believe that especially if I back up your story. Dakotah didn’t see anything right?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Good then our plan will fall through and you will be in the clear. We will end this soon.” Alex promised before the P.E teacher called for them to hurry up.
My heart started hammering against my chest. What was Alex and Zac’s plan? Why were they lying to the cops? Three words crossed my mind.
Holy fucken shit.
