I finally updated this story! Yaaaaaay I was in the writing mood :) This is more of a filler chapter not much drama. I hope you guys still enjoy it anyways. Remember to comment, buzz and enjoy :))))
Last Chapter: Hoodie? Mask? What was Alex and Zac's plan? Three words crossed my mind. Holy fucken shit.
Cassadee’s Pov:“No way! Alex and Zac!” Hayley gasped placing her cappuccino cup onto the small round glass table. “
“Yes way,” Dakotah replied “I heard everything”
“Alex and Zac are best friends..” Hayley trailed off.
“Yeah and they are the most popular guys in the school” I added, taking a sip of my cappuccino. “I find it hard to believe though.”
Hayley frowned. “Why?”
“Well what motive does he have against us?” I asked looking round the table at the two of them.
“Dakotah that thing with you and Alex, what if he knows?” Hayley asked. Hayley and I stared at Dakotah as her face turned pale.
“But that doesn’t make sense unless he –“ Hayley paused as the waitress placed our chips on the table.
“Thank you” Hayley smiled, sliding our chips over to us as the waitress nodded and walked away.
“Unless he snapped the photo of you and Alex kissing that night.” She continued.
“Ok so he has that over Dakotah but what against us? What have we done to him?” I asked shoving a chip into my mouth.
“Maybe because we are friends with her” Hayley answered reaching for a chip.
“But they are in love” I fought pointing to Dakotah. “You don’t torment somebody you love.”
Dakotah sighed loudly and pushed her chips away. “I’m not hungry anymore.”
“The evidence is there Cass. He was there when I was in the fire and he was there on the night Josh got stabbed.” Hayley argued swallowing a chip before reaching for another.
“It is not! They were talking about hoodies and masks and lying to the police to get their names cleared.” Hayley countered.
I shrugged “Maybe, but I think we are overlooking something.”
Right on cue Alex, Jack, Zac and Taylor entered the store. Jack glanced over at our table and spotted Hayley. He began to move over toward us as Alex ordered their meals.
“Hey guys” He half smiled stuffing his hands in his pockets. Dakotah sighed and rolled her eyes. She never liked Jack they always argued. To be honest I wasn’t too fond of him either.
“What’s up?” I asked trying to be friendly. He glanced toward Hayley ignoring my question.
“Can I talk to you for a sec Hayles?”
He still uses that nickname for her. When they were dating he would be ‘Jacky B’ And she would be ‘Hayles’. Thank god that phase is over. She hesitated before agreeing.
She got up and whispered “We will talk about this later.”
“Hey Cass I know we haven’t talked about this since the night Josh was injured but do you mind telling me who the other guy you like is?” Dakotah asked in a hushed whisper as she leaned over the glass coffee table.
“Nobody, it’s-he’s nobody I swear it’s out of my head now.. he’s out of my head.” I struggled to reply. I don’t think she believed me. Why am I such a bad liar?
Taylor looked my way and approached me. I groaned internally. I really wasn’t in the mood to see him I have too much on my plate already.
“Hey Cass” He smiled leaning down and kissing me on the cheek.
“I need another drink Dakotah mumbled as she got up and walked over to the counter. I could see Zac watching her from afar.
“We haven’t talked for a while.” He spoke trying to make conversation.
“We text” I reminded him.
He laughed nervously “Yeah but I mean in person. I feel like we are drifting apart.”
I swallowed and grabbed his hand. “Well let’s go for a walk then” I offered extending my hand. Dakotah came back with another drink but stopped as she saw us getting up.
“Seriously guys? Your guys are leaving me?” She groaned.
“Sorry D I’m stealing her for the day” Taylor joked entwining our fingers.
“Fine I’ll go find someone else to hang with” She groaned although sent me a flirty wink.
Dakotah’s Pov: I watched Cass and Taylor walk outside leaving me officially lonered. Great. I glanced towards Zac’s table and watched as Alex placed their meals down. Alex said something then headed off in the direction of the bathrooms. I took this opportunity to talk to Zac about what happened the night Josh got stabbed. I saw Zac glance up at me, he crossed his arms as if he was waiting for me or something. I quickly took a seat next to him.
“Why were you in the woods the night Josh got attacked Zac?” I asked jumping straight to the point. He sipped his coffee and shrugged.
“I went for a midnight run.”
“In the woods? Really? That’s pretty scary don’t you think.” I scoffed.
“Not really.” He shrugged again before sipping his coffee. “Are we done with the interrogation?”
“I don’t believe you” I admitted glancing behind me to make sure Alex wasn’t coming.
“I don’t really care what you think anymore.” He spat coldly.
“Why were you there when Hayley was in the house?” He didn’t reply.
“What are you hiding Zac? Huh? You’re supposed to tell me these things. Stop keeping secrets.” I pleaded.
“What about your secrets?” He hissed.
I froze taking in what he said. “What?” I whispered mostly to myself.
“Nothing-“ He began but a voice cut him off.
“What’s going on here?” Alex asked suspiciously before taking a seat beside me.
“Nothing. I’m done here. I’m done with you Zac” My voice shook as I tried to hide all these emotions that were threatening to pour out.
“Vice versa” He muttered under his breath. He tried to look staunch like what I had said didn’t affect him but I could see the pain in his eyes.
I stood up and walked out of the coffee shop with a straight face but as soon as I got into my car the tears just poured out. I just broke up with Zac and he didn’t even care.
Hayley’s Pov: Jack walked me outside and stood directly under the sun. The wind ruffled his hair as he struggled to keep it in place. Just as he opened his mouth to speak my phone went off.
“Sorry I’ll just quickly answer this” I say answering the phone.
“Miss Williams?” The voice on the other end asked.
“It’s the police department. We investigated the scene of the burnt down house that you were in. We have managed to find nothing that could lead us to whom locked you in that house. All finger prints and footprints seemed to have been lost in the fire. We are very sorry but we can help you no more. This will have to go down as an unsolved case. You have my deepest apologizes Miss Williams.”
“It’s fine” I mumbled barely audible. Jack was staring at me with a confused expression.
“We are very sorry”
“So I’ve heard” I whispered snapping the phone shut.
“What was that about?” Jack asked as the wind continued to tug at his hair.
“It was the police. They couldn’t find out who locked me in the house. I could have died and all they did was apologize. Not to mention that there is a physco running around out there trying to kill me and my friends.” I snapped. I didn’t realize it until now but I was pacing myself in a circle.
“What do you mean trying to hurt you and your friends? Is this the same person who stabbed Josh?” Jack asked causing me to stop. When I didn’t reply he grabbed my arms harshly.
“Is there something I don’t know about?” He pressed not loosening his grip on me.
“Of course not” I lied pulling away from him. “If I knew who was doing this they would be well in jail.”
“What did you mean when you said me and my frie-“
“Nothing it just slipped out! Ok?” I groaned, annoyed. He eyed me up and down with an unreadable expression on his face.
“Ok I’m sorry.” He says. I just nodded and rubbed my arms. His grip was really strong.
“Hayley I’m also sorry for pushing you away when you wanted to help me with my condition.” Jack apologized.
I nodded “Have you stopped?” I asked cautiously unsure of the way he would react.
“Yeah for the time being”
“Well that’s good then” He nodded and let the wind whip at his hair sending it in all directions.
“I’m also sorry about not visiting you in hospital or even checking to see if you were ok” He had a solemn expression on his face. His hair was blowing about madly now.
“I just got released yesterday. Also why didn’t you visit me?” I asked curiously. I felt kind of hurt by this. It was like he never cared or something.
“I was afraid that you wouldn’t want to see me” The wind was tugging violently at my hair now as I tried to brush it out of my face.
“Why on earth would you think that?” He didn’t answer he just looked down with a sad expression.
“Well I did want to see you, I really did Jack.” I muttered turning my attention to the ground as well.
“Well I’m sorry and I promise I will be here for you.” His gaze locked with mine for a second before I looked away.
“I heard about what happened to Josh and if there’s anything you need. I am here”
“Thank you Jack” I smiled and hugged him.
Josh was on the mend and Jack was my friend again, also we might have a lead on who A might be. Things are looking up.
