Note that I actually got the right picture this time :L Hope you guys enjoy :) Remember to gosh you already know :P
Cassadee’s Pov: I wanted to hang out with Taylor again today but he told me he had a big game tonight so it couldn’t happen. We have two top football teams in our school and they have to face off to see which one will make it to the championship finals against Ambridge High. The weird thing was that he didn’t even ask me to come and cheer him along he just left. He went back to the table with Alex, Jack, Zac and a few other football team mates to make a strategy. Just when I thought we were getting along so well. Dakotah rambled on about how she doesn’t care about Zac anymore and that she’s completely over him and his bullshit. I knew she was lying though. She still loved him deep inside. I think he still loves her too. He stares at her when she’s not looking and she stares at him when he’s not looking. I still don’t think he’s A though. He just doesn’t seem like the heartless kind of person. I just wish they would work things out.
“What do you think Cass?” Dakotah’s voice broke my train of thoughts.
“Um I think that uh.. it’s a good idea.” I stuttered.
She narrowed her eyes at me. “You weren’t even listening were you?”
“No I wasn’t” I admitted sheepishly.
“Well you know how your boyfriend is playing the game tonight?” She asked. I nodded waiting for her to continue.
“Well I was thinking that we should go”
“There are hot football members at the game, and wouldn’t you like to watch your man kick some ass?”
I nodded and glanced at him. He was laughing and throwing a chip at Zac. Jack was sitting there quietly like he didn’t want to be a part of the conversation they were having and Alex was mocking a team player.
“You just want to go and make out with someone in front of Zac don’t you?” I grinned already knowing the answer even if she admits it or not.
“Pfft why would I do that?” She asked throwing a piece of bread at me.
“To make him jealous” I grinned watching her expression.
“No.” She denied before breaking off another piece of bread and tossing it at me.
“Ok whatever we will go” I laughed before I get the whole slice gets thrown at me.
“Good. I will meet you at the gates at seven. Tell Hayley she can tag along.” Dakotah ordered before getting up and dusting off her jeans.
Hayley’s Pov: I entered Starbucks and sat down reading through my texts. Jack wasn’t here yet thankfully that gives me time to call Dakotah. They invited me to the game but I obviously can’t go if I am hanging out with Jack.
“Hayley! Are you coming or what?” Dakotah answered before I could speak. If you ever want to know who’s calling you, get phone ID.
“Uh I can’t I have stuff to do” I half lied. I wouldn’t let Dakotah know that I was hanging out with Jack. They never liked each other.
“Ok then? Cass and I are just getting ready for the game at my house, come over if you change your mind.”
“Yeah maybe if I have time”
“Oh come on what’s more fun than a football game with hot football guys?” I heard Cass’s voice in the background.
“Look I wish I could come but I really can’t. Tell me how the game goes tomorrow.” I covered up.
“Ok then, but you are missing out on a heap of fun though Hayley. See you tomorrow then, love you” Dakotah giggled.
“I love you Hayley!” Cass screeched in the background causing Dakotah to laugh hysterically into the phone.
“Love you too” I replied with a smile before hanging up.
My friends and I are so weird I have no idea how we are so popular. I tucked my phone in my pocket and glanced up to see Jack standing by the table with his hands in his pockets. He swallowed and sat down opposite me.
“Sorry I was late I got held up with some family stuff.” He explained grabbing the menu from the table. I noticed that he had a small patch of red paint on his thumb.
“It’s fine” I say slowly, taking my eyes off his hands. He just nods and stares at his menu. There was something on his mind I could tell. There was a short silence until Jack broke it.
“Was that Josh?” He asked with a hint of pain in his tone.
“No it was Dakotah. Josh and I we aren’t at that stage yet” I say awkwardly. He nods and looks back at the menu.
“Yet?” He questions. “Do you think you guys will get to that stage?”
“Well I mean Josh is very important to me and I um well.” I stopped and glanced at Jack.
Do I love Josh? I think Jack caught what I was asking myself. I think he caught the answer too because his face dropped a little. I think I do. I really think I love him. I have never been this happy before, I’m at the stage where I am happier with him than I was with Jack and we have been dating for about four months now. Jack looked down at the table and bit his lip like he was trying to hold back something. I decided to change the subject.
“Uh so what did you want to talk about?” I asked trying to distract Jack from the subject of my love life.
He cleared his throat “I just need to let a few things out. First-“ He was cut off by my phone ringing.
“I’ll just turn it off” I smiled as I pulled out my phone. It was an emergency call from Josh.
“I’m so sorry this will only take a second” I laughed answering my phone. Jack stared at me with a stern look on his face.
“Josh look-“ I stopped mid-sentence as I heard what he said. I gasped and stood up, grabbing my purse.
“When-when was this?” I stammered staring at Jack with a shocked face. He narrowed his eyes in confusion and also stood up.
“Ok I’ll be right there” I say quickly and hung up.
“What’s going on? Are you leaving?” He asked grabbing my coat.
“Jack I’m so sorry but I need to go, something happened at the hospital with Josh”
“Ok then I’ll drive you” He says wrapping me in my coat.
“Really there’s no need-“ He cut me off “Look I will take you to the hospital and then we will drive back here and collect your car.”
I know that there was no point in arguing with Jack I did promise to spend some time with him after all. Besides it would probably be a lot safer with Jack by my side. I sighed in defeat and led the way out of Starbucks. He unlocked his car and jumped in the driver’s seat. I sat down beside him and he gave me a look. To the hospital we go.
Cassadee’s Pov: “Seriously? There are no parks” Dakotah whined as we drove in a circle around the schools parking lot.
“Look just park by the curb over there and let’s go! I want to surprise Taylor.” I ordered as Dakotah swerved the car in my direction.
“I don’t get why he didn’t invite you to watch him.”
“He probably just thought I had something planned with you guys” I covered unbuckling my seat belt and climbing out of the car.
“Whatever you say” Dakotah chimed locking the door.
Dakotah and I giggled about old times at Hayley’s house as we walked into the stadium. It was already packed full of people on the bleachers but us being popular we got to choose any seat we wanted. We sat right up the front and watched as the cheerleaders did their little dances. The game should start any second. The obnoxiously loud high pitch sound of the bell thingy whatever you call it I’m no good with things that come to sport, went off and both teams came jogging onto the field. One side was the blue team and one side was the red. The cheerleaders did their dances and suddenly the match was in play. I spotted Taylor standing with Alex on the side of the field in his red outfit. Alex grabbed Taylor’s shoulders and seemed to be yelling at him. Taylor nodded and Alex slapped his back as Taylor ran onto the field with a determined look on his face.
“Taylor’s number eleven” Dakotah pointed out but I had already seen him.
I glanced around the field looking for Zac but he wasn’t there. That’s weird, where could Zac be? Dakotah seemed to have noticed that he was missing too but didn’t say anything about it. I continued looking for Zac until my eyes fell upon a certain guy that I never thought played football. Jeremy. Jeremy was dressed in his blue outfit with the white number fourteen marked on his back. I continued to watch him as he pulled his helmet over his head and crouched down with his team. I thought Jeremy only did photography? I then remembered the awkward encounter with Jeremy outside the gym when he had no shirt on. Duh Cass he obviously plays a sport if he was by the gym. Gosh sometimes I’m so blonde.
Suddenly everyone was cheering as the ball was kicked high in the air. I watched as someone from Jeremy’s team caught the ball and made a run. I watched as Jeremy ran up the side line not too far away as the guy dodged past the other team. The guy suddenly kicked the ball far out and Jeremy caught it, sprinting into their defensive line. I noticed Taylor give Alex a nod and immediately Alex charged at Jeremy. Jeremy dodged past Alex almost at the try line, then without warning Taylor appears and tackles Jeremy and he hits the ground with a sickening thud. The crowd gasps and I stand up staring at the scene in front of me. I watch cautiously as Taylor and Alex high five each other. Did they plan this? Jeremy scrambles to his feet and the crowd starts cheering for him. He manages a small smile and jogs off to his side. I can see Taylor glaring at him as he jogs away.
The game resumes and I watch as Taylor goes after Jeremy with a determined look on his face. The guards block Taylor long enough for Jeremy to pass the ball but that doesn’t stop Taylor. Taylor continues to charge at Jeremy without him noticing. I gasp as I predict what’s going to happen next. Taylor leaps at Jeremy without hesitation, Jeremy oblivous to what’s about to happen, suddenly gets knocked to the ground with Taylor landing on top of him. I gasp again and run down the side ignoring Dakotahs calls for me.
“Foul number eleven” The Ref points at Taylor sending him back to his side.
I stand down by the cheerleaders waiting for something awful to happen next. Why was Taylor targeting Jeremy? I had to stop this game somehow. Jeremy limped off with the help of the medics and placed him on the sideline. I had to talk to Jeremy while I had the chance. I pushed through the bunch of girls and medics until I was standing in front of Jeremy Davis. He had a bloody nose and a bruise was forming underneath his right eye. He was clutching his left side as the medic was checking to see if there was any major damage on it.
“Jeremy” I cried bending down to see the damage caused by Taylor. I gently ran my finger across his bruise and he winced as the medic pressed onto his injured side.
“Are you ok?” I asked still crouching beneath him.
He gave me a warm smile “I haven’t talked to you in a long time Cass. Have you been avoiding me?”
“N-No” I lied. I wasn’t doing it purposely I just didn’t want him to interfeere with my relationship with Taylor, even though he had no idea that I liked him.
“Uh huh ok then” He scoffed playfully. I breathed out a sigh of relief as I realized that he could have been angry with me for avoiding him but he chose not to make a big deal out of it. Just when I thought things were going to be ok I felt someone’s hands around my waist pulling me backwards.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Taylor snarled keeping his arms wrapped tightly around my waist. Both Jeremy and I looked at Taylor confused. The medics and refs walked over to pull Taylor away but he resisted.
“You leave my girlfriend alone” He spat gently pushing me behind him. Jeremy raised his hands in defense “Dude chill-“
“I will not chill” Taylor hissed cutting Jeremy’s sentence off completely. I saw Dakotah run towards us with a bewildered look on her face.
“Taylor calm down he wasn’t doing anything” I whispered afraid that if I said the wrong thing he would blow up. I had never seen this side of Taylor before. By now people on the stands were staring at our little scene.
“Yeah I wasn’t doing anything” Jeremy defended and his team mates stood beside him crossing their arms across their chests.
“Yeah right” Taylor scoffed “You were flirting with my girlfriend you asshole” I bit my lip as I realized what this was all about.
Taylor had been running after Jeremy because he thought there was something going on between us. Jeremy still hadn’t caught on and was staring blankly at Taylor who was fuming. Suddenly without warning Taylor punched Jeremy in face making him topple backwards off the bench he was seated on.
“Taylor stop!” I screamed and pulled him back as Jeremy’s team ran to him. “What the fuck was that for?”
Taylor didn’t say anything he just pulled out a crumpled red piece of paper and threw it at me before storming away with Alex following closely behind. It read.
Wondering why you and Cass have been so distant lately? She’s been cheating on you with Jeremy Davis. He’s number fourteen in the next big game you will be playing. This is your chance for revenge on both of them.
